MORGAN SPORTS CAR CLUB

A day of hobbits, geysers and food for the seven cars taking part in Dave and Jane’s Treasure Hunt on Sunday.  The weather was a concern – with Keith and Karen turning back at Hampden Downs after a deluge saw them taking on water!  But the Waikato managed to stay dry.  The seven teams started out with breakfast/coffee at The Deli where they received their briefing packs and clues.

Their journey took them out across the dam to Lake Karapiro, visiting the World War 1 trench.  A small hiccup in the clues had the participants counting 100s of sandbags, whereas the organisers had only intended 37 to be counted!  There were photo bonus points on offer for being inside the Electricorp turbine.

They then wended their way to Hobbiton and lunch at the Shires Rest.  They met some interesting locals.

From Bag End they travelled into Matamata…

and then travelled out to the Kaimai crash site memorial and onto Te Aroha.

Prizegiving at Ironique Cafe and Restaurant saw Nigel and Jacob from New Plymouth taking top honours with everyone leaving with a goodie bag!
